WINTER 2008

WINTER 2008
WINTER 2008

The right side of my original photos are blurry....why you say? The day I took them I was so tired from working that I thought my eyes were tired and not focusing. In reality it was a finger smudge on the lens of the camera. Got a kick our of myself when I realized what had happened.

August is not a good time of year to begin remodeling a mobile home. Especially one that has 2 barely working air conditioners, both scarcely hanging from the windows in which they were placed. The weather was in the 100's and my little tuna can reeked of leftover odors from cigarettes and a dog...not a good picture.

My role model for this endeavor... MY AUNT MARY, who encouraged me all along the way by listening and laughing with me. She was a fixer-upper and remodeler...and I would follow in her footsteps!?!

The living room - kitchen

The previous owners had left behind alot of furniture and miscellaneous items. holes in the walls...and MICE!!!

The old front door was actually an interior door in which a window had been fitted and a human sized doggy door had been placed. The first night of sleeping there, I piled everything big and heavy I could find, in front of it.

THE LIVING ROOM AND KITCHEN FLOOR...Lumber Liquidators, maple laminate...$.78 cents a square foot.  I had never laid laminate......strained nerves, sweat, tapping with blocks, no square walls...did I mention the cussing? ...  it looked so easy on DIY!!!

Holy Mackerel - I'm worn out just reading about all of your work! I think I'm nuts, but I think I would like to do a remodel. Wait, I think I'll just live vicariously through your remodel! I can't believe what efforts you have gone through all on your own. You go Kathy!

I could relate to your blog so much. My husband & I are working on a manufactured home as well. It is a lot of work, but the result is amazing. We have some work left on the inside, and hope to finish soon. We also live by a creek and have a stocked pond out of the back deck. I love that we can fish at any time :)I agree, that once you have water on your property, you won't ever want to leave. Best to u....Jenny ><>.....

I've enjoyed visiting your blog. We are also the owners of a manufactured home, and have redone every room in the house.. Now working on round 2, so love to look at ideas other people have come up with.. Your home is beautiful, and the view...just awesome! Have a blessed day...

I am so glad I found your blog! We live in the city on a 1/2 acre lot and have always dreamed of moving OUT and having some room.

Today we looked at a 14 acre berm home that will work but leaves no place for me to work - I work from home and the house, while cozy, has no room for me. Then the realtor says there is also a mobile home that comes included. We toured it and well, it is rough. Seeing your pictures now though I am thinking this might be our guest house/office space.

Really excited!

Wonderful job, everything looks gorgeous. Did you have any problems adding the extra windows?

That is the prettiest mobile home I've ever seen! I love all the hard work you've put into it. I goes to show how hard work can make even the humblest beginnings look beautiful. You did a great job! http://www.thirdcreeksupplyinc.com/electricalswitches.htm

Can you tell me about all the windows. Is that done by yourself? If so did you just build frames inside & outside to place those nice insulated double hung windows.
I have a 1969 who knows who cares what model. It's old and I hate the windows that almost all pre 90's mobile homes came with.

Also those walls where you placed a window where there was nothing before. Was this a hard task to cut walls and place windows.

PS: your view is amazing at your Little river cabin. Julie G

A complete bathroom model can significantly increase value of your home and, if you choose to put it on the market, make it more desirable.
